Hi, I'm Amber Winick.
(And the baby in the photo is my first-born daughter.) The parents I work with are ready to parent in a more mindful, connected, and respectful way, but may need a some support, or may feel stuck by their own histories. Together, we navigate to a place of calm and authenticity, greeting challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and connection.
My approach is grounded in mindfulness, attachment theory, and respectful parenting. I apply the principles of infant mental health, early childhood development and education, dance movement psychotherapy (informed both by my experience as a Ways of Seeing Practitioner and by RIE®) in sessions.
I'm the co-creator and co-author of Designing Motherhood, which, among other accolades, has won a W-Award for research in gender and architecture. I'm also the recipient of two Fulbright Fellowships, one of which was centered around Dr. Emmi Pikler and her contributions to the field of developmental psychology, motor development, and design.
My strong belief is that when we look after caregivers, all of society can grow and flourish. My newsletter, SnailHaus, invites readers to reflect on the ways we bring intention, connection, and care to our homes, cities, and other designed environments. Today, SnailHaus is a rising bestseller in Substack’s Design category.
I live mostly in London and a little in New York's Hudson Valley together with my three wonderfully quirky and tender-hearted children.
